The stuff team managers and parents ask the most. If something’s not covered, get in touch and we’ll add it.
Volley+ Junior Hardcourt is for kids aged 14 to 17. Specifically, players must be 14 by the time they take the court and under 18 at 31 December of the current year. This is an insurance requirement — proof of age must be available to make any claim. Registering a child outside this age range means they will not be covered.
Not at all — Junior Hardcourt is beginner friendly and all levels are welcome. The focus is on fun, enjoyment and getting kids playing. As the competition grows we aim to run multiple divisions so beginners play against beginners and more experienced teams play against each other — everyone gets games that suit their level. In the meantime tell us your child’s ability honestly at registration so we can guide team-managers when forming or balancing rosters.
Monday nights at VU Community Sports Stadium, Footscray. Two timeslots: 6:15 PM and 7:00 PM. Each match runs about 45 minutes. Teams rotate timeslots week to week — every team plays both slots across the season.
One adult (18+) acts as team manager. They sign up at /footscray/team/register, lock in a team name, agree to the manager terms, and pay the $120 team registration. After that, each parent registers their own child onto the team using a join link the manager shares.
Your team manager will share a join link with you (it looks like /footscray/team/join?team=...). Open it, log in, fill in your child’s details, agree to the consents. Three steps and a few minutes.
Pop them in the player pool — it’s free. Tell us their ability and any known absences, agree to the data-sharing consent, and we’ll match them to a team manager who’s looking for players.
See the Fees page for the full breakdown. Headline: $120 team registration (paid by the manager, one-off) plus $60 per match (paid weekly by the manager to Volley+). Players in the pool pay nothing until they’re placed on a team.
Volley+ invoices the team manager only — we never collect from individual parents directly. The manager arranges how to split the $60 across their player families. With a team of 6 on the night that’s $10 per kid per match, less again if the team has more players sharing the cost.
Active wear suitable for indoor sport, non-marking court shoes (essential for hardcourt), and a water bottle. We’ll provide all balls and equipment.
No — this is a competition, not a training program. Each team brings its own players and runs itself. We provide the courts, referees, fixtures, and the comp infrastructure.
We strongly encourage every team to have an adult (18+) hold a Level 1 coaching accreditation. Volley+ can assist with getting that organised — email juniors@volleyplus.com.au and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Yes. Volley+ rosters qualified referees for every match. They’re drawn from our existing senior-comp referee pool — same crew who run our adult competitions.
Six players on court at a time. A team is allowed a maximum of 8 players per game (six on court plus up to two substitutes on the night). Your overall season roster can be larger than 8 — you just can’t have more than 8 named for any single match. Rotating bigger rosters across the season is fine and a good way to keep everyone involved.
Sure — life happens. Let your team manager know in advance so they can plan numbers. Volley+ bills the team manager for the match either way, but how individual absences affect each family’s contribution is the team’s call.
We require all players in a team to wear tops of the same colour. No specific Volley+ uniform — pick a colour and stick to it. This is so referees and opposing teams can easily tell teammates apart on the court.
Right now, each season runs across a single school term, with dates published per term. As the competition grows we may extend that to two terms per season (e.g. Term 1–2 or Term 3–4) for more continuity. Fixtures are circulated in advance.
Yes. VolleyPlus carries player accident insurance with Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance. We are not affiliated with any sporting association — we purchase the cover directly and provide it to all players in our competitions.
Important: to be eligible to claim, the player must be within the program’s age range (14–17, see above) and proof of age must be available. Players also need to be QR checked in at the venue, and an incident report must be completed at the time of the injury. Claims must commence within six months. Full coverage and claim details.
